In 1927 O. C. Lumsden, Sr. and his wife, John Etta, donated one acre of their farmland to the local school district as the location for a new schoolhouse for the area children. The Bayou Meto School was soon built. Over the next thirty years hundreds of students learned about math, about English, about sharing and playing well with others, and about crossing their t's and dotting their i's. When the schools were consolidated in the late 1950's, the We hope many people will visit The Schoolhouse Lodge and enjoy a journey back in time.
